A Safer Province for Everyone: Responding to Violence Against Sex Workers

Living in Community is hosting a provincial conference called A Safer Province for Everyone: Responding to Violence Against Sex Workers on May 28 and 29, 2019.

This conference will bring together diverse stakeholders from around BC to discuss best practices in responding to violence against sex workers. The first of its kind in BC, the Safer Province for Everyone Conference will host sex workers, sex-worker organizations, Indigenous organizations, police, government, health authorities, legal organizations and others from throughout BC.

Speakers from across the province include sex workers, RCMP, nonprofits, academics and municipalities.

Themes include:

  • Understanding violence in the sex industry
  • Provincial Sex Work Enforcement Guidelines
  • Provincial bad date reporting system
  • Best practices to decrease violence

Limited travel scholarships are available to support sex workers and front-line service providers in BC to attend the conference, particularly those travelling from rural and remote areas.
